I totaly agree. Halloween or not, if you aren't wearing some kind of a costume, and I am very liberal about that point, you are not Trick or Treat ing. A costume, as far as I am concerned, can be something as benine as an old pair of telvision "rabbit ears" to be a Martian, or a paper grocery bag with holes cut out, and various features painted on it. It could be something you throw together from the junk in your attic or basement, or it can be as expensive and as elaborate as you would find on a Hallywood movie set. Heck, if all else fails, take a black magic marker and draw a fony mustache on your face, or get one of those eye glasses & nose masks. A simple pair of vampire fangs, or just a mask. ANYTHING GOES, but TRADITION calls for a costume of some kind.

Some of us are just naturally ugly without needing a costume. Also, some of us have such poor fashion sense, we always appear to be in costume.

I think trick-or-treaters without a costume should be forced to wear Mario Batali's post-Iron Chef-battle undercrackers on their heads as punishment for desecrating our favorite holiday.

Excust me, but a costume is the TRADITION of Halloween 'Trick or Treat ing" The Halloween costume is THE difference between Halloween tradition and just plain begging.

No costume, no candy.

As far as I'm concerned anyway.

As much preaching I did about Halloween TOT TRADITION, I probably would give a kid who wasn't wearing a costume maybe one piece of candy, but I'm not happy about it. Like I said, it takes no major effort at all to make a mask out of a paper plate. It's not 'Rocket Science" to to put a pair of vampire teeth in your mouth, which can be bought at any drug store for a buck ot rwo. A paper grocery bag and a pencil can be a great way for even the very poorset TOTer to uphold TRADITION.

The costume does not have to be 'movie quality.' All I ask is that the effort be made to uphold TRADITION.

I hear what you're saying Mike and I agree with you but now days kids wouldnt use a plate or even a paper bag (if they could actually find one) to make a costume out of, kids are more "hip" then that now days and wouldnt be seen in something home made unless it was a steller costume.....
I remember making a robot costume out of tin foil and cardboard boxes, but most kids now days dont have the imagination, the parents wouldnt take the time to help, and the kids wouldnt wear something as "hoaky" as home made.....

I'm a liberal. I don't really have rules, and I don't much care. If you come to my house on Halloween night, you can have candy. If you're old, if you're young, if you have a costume, if you don't, if you say "trick or treat!" or "give me some m-effing candy!", I don't care. It's not a power trip. If you come to my house, you get candy.
