Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
I took down most of my autumn stuff this week except for a scattering of turkeys, and took stock of Christmas items and what I will need to decorate the lobby on my floor of the apartment building.
There are rumors of a contest and prizes.
That's not why I do it but, you know, prizes.
Yes. Those are Christmas curtains, and the photo is 3D, if you know how to see it.
The snowman can be viewed if you cross your eyes until you see an image in the center.

Andy, I love seeing your decorations every year, for every season!
Happy Thanksgiving to you both, and to anyone else reading here! My husband has the whole week off from school, which is pleasant for all of us. In addition to the feasting, he and I want to continue decluttering and organizing the condo we inherited from his folks. So we have a project. But today we'll be at church, singing and feasting with the church family.

I'm stuffed.
Schedules and rescheduling meant out of the 4 family households only 2 of us had a full-bore Thanksgiving meal on actual Thanksgiving.
I have several pounds of leftovers to bring home tomorrow.
There's another turkey day on Saturday but I will be busy working on decorations at home.

Gorgeous turkey!
It's lovely to share the holiday with extended family, but in some ways I'm happy that our holiday is nuclear. Everything is simpler for us. When my husband and I were first married, he was in the Army, and we were never free to travel at the holidays. The higher ranking officers got to do that, but the junior officers got half-day holidays. It meant that even though they got some time off, they couldn't travel anywhere. At first; coming from an academic schedule, I resented that, but later on I realized it had been a blessing in disguise. It meant that we got trained very early in our marriage to have our holidays at home. People who wanted to see us at that time had to come to us. Years later, when I was teaching at a college in VA and was once again on an academic schedule, I witnessed middle-aged couples with half-grown families hauling all the way across the country for the holidays. Lots of them quietly resented it, but they knew they were expected to travel because they could.
I had a small turkey yesterday, but there's still plenty of food left. My daughter had to show up at work at 5:45 this morning (they usually open at 9). Black Friday, you know. And that religious bookstore really gets slammed.
