You would definitely be at peace there!

It's interesting that they let it reach that state of decline, I know they said that there hasn't been anybody buried there since the 60s, and I hope that they are able to restore it, because from the pictures they show, there are some very impressive headstones and sculptures there that should be appreciated. At least everybody agrees that the graves will remain there, and they won't repurpose the land.

With that said, I also think it's beautiful the way it currently is, because it's a glimpse of what's to come. We know that inevitably our species will be gone one day, and the Earth will reclaim the cities and structures that we built, and the whole world will be covered with overgrown vegetation, and depending on what form of life follows ours, they will find places like this cemetery to let them know that we were here.

There's an ancient cemetery in downtown Murfreesboro, older than that one but probably not as big. From time to time Boy Scouts will go clean it up as an Eagle project.

I follow a guy on Instagram who restores markers all the way up to entire cemeteries.

People do care but there are far more properties than volunteers.

HH, if you haven't watched 'After People' I recommend at least taking a look.
