Always loved the Charlie Brown special, and later on, the Fat Albert Halloween special was fun too. "I'm a clown!" "We KNOW that. But what are you dressed as??" I haven't seen the Fat Albert special in years and would love to see that again.

Mrs. OEJ here, *ahem* As far as The Wizard of Oz being a holiday tradition, it actually goes back to the publication of the book. It was a HUGE seller for Christmas and THE gift to have at Christmas time was an Oz book and this carried on well into the 1920s. The original book was published in 1900. In one of the Oz books, Santa himself makes an appearance in Oz and Oz author L. Frank Baum also wrote 'The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus' Now as far as the movie....the movie first aired November 3 1956. Heck, when Oz was on TV once a year, that in itself was a special event, practically a holiday and I'm not totally exaggerating because I'm biased either. But November people start thinking about the holidays and Oz got moved around many time slots in November, sometimes the night before Thanksgiving, and in December, a few times in the spring around Easter. I guess the tv execs thought the holiday season would bring in good viewership for Oz. Now with way, waaaaaaaaaaay too many tv showings and DVD it's not the special event that it used to be but when I have kids, it will be. Oz geek signing off.
