Brings to mind Dean Koontz's Frankenstein. If you haven't read the book, comics, or watched the movie, it may be worth a shot. The movie is available on the Halloween channel, though it's a very poor adaptation of the book.

Use to be a big Koontz fan, haven't read anything past Dragon Tears... Saw the Frankenstein movie on TV when it came out, kind a meh... The Frank in my story would probably give Brad Pitt a run for his money...
