Our whole family was saddened to hear this. Text messages were flying.

Such sad news. :( A lot of good older actors are dying. But at least the movies enable us to remember them.

James Earl Jones passed away not too long ago too.

All the good ones are crossing over to the other side! :(

I'm waiting to hear who #3 is going to be. It may be macabre of me, but they usually do go in threes.

Yeah, I still practice that old superstition.

Based on perceived importance, I proffer that Newhart is worth at least a half dozen just on his own.

I was thinking about Newhart earlier tonight. How long ago did we hear about his passing?

There were so many prestigious older actors in the Harry Potter series, and so many of them have passed. Richard Harris, Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman, Robbie Benson, John Hurt, and now Maggie Smith. Oh, and one or two others whose names I can't recall. Who was the guy who played his uncle?

Alan Rickman was a great actor, such a shame he's gone now. I guess you just never know.

Macabre as it may be, that doesn't mean there isn't some truth behind that. Though I certainly wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Well, I guess #3 was Kris Kristofferson. Perhaps not super well known to you younger ones, but he was VERY big in pop culture in the 70s (music, movies) and remained well known in country music. A guy I dated back in the 70s in Nashville told me that his apartment had once been occupied by Kristofferson. Couldn't prove it by me, of course, but it was certainly possible.

Kristofferson had been a Rhodes Scholar. I'm sure his parents were devastated when he decided to make a career in show biz, but he made good.

Just finished reading an obit for KK. Perhaps I misjudged how well folks here might know him, as he was in the Blade trilogy. I've never seen it, but I bet some of you have.
