Re: The best Christmas episodes and tv specials

I'll get back to this tomorrow when the forum isn't signing me out every 5 minutes.

By the way, if it says that I'm still online, I'm not. ---------->

The forum was glitching again and it signed me out while I was typing, so I signed in again and it's still signing me out, but it still says that ...

Re: Christmas Trees - fake or real?

I have only ever seen a candlelit tree once in my life when I was a kid, and it was beautiful. I remember it was at a Christmas pageant at city hall, our class was there to sing for the event. The only other place that I've seen candlelit trees is in movies.

I know that they make fake trees that ...

Re: Catching up

I think the names on a family tree mean a lot more when people know something about the ones who bore those names.

You're absolutely right about that.

The way that I've been physically documenting my family history, both on paper and digitally, is by having notations beside each name that ...

The best Christmas episodes and tv specials

Well, since we already have a thread for Christmas movies, I thought that I would start a thread to discuss your favorite Christmas episodes of sitcoms, and tv specials. Full disclosure, while I do watch modern shows that have Christmas episodes, they just don't compare to the classics that I grew ...

Re: Christmas Trees - fake or real?

Thanks for the tips and information, Murf!

I was talking to my wife again last night, and we decided that we're going to get a real tree for the kids. I was actually wondering how the tree would remain vertical, like I said, I have no experience with real trees, but I did assume that it would ...

Re: Catching up

Yes, many families live with painful secrets behind closed doors that the rest of the world is unaware of, but they put a smile on their face when they go outside, and they continue their lives, rarely, if ever, speaking of that pain.

Murf, you mentioned how your father's death affected your ...

Christmas Trees - fake or real?

When it comes to Christmas trees, which do you prefer, fake plastic trees, and no, I'm not talking about the old Radiohead song, but synthetic trees, or do you prefer a real tree?

My mother and most of my older relatives always had a real tree when they were growing up, but when I was a kid we ...

Re: Catching up

There was one more thing that I wanted to mention.

I have already told Sam about certain things from my past, so she's aware of some of the things that I experienced, but I've debated if I will ever tell her the full story. I know for sure that I won't ever tell my kids about what my mother went ...

Re: Catching up

HH, your capacity for storytelling is second only to your willingness to unpack and share memories that others would be crushed by if they even thought about doing that.

Thank you Andy.

There are very few people in my personal and professional life that are aware of my past, as it's obviously ...

Re: Catching up

Murf, my friend, thank you for your kind words, and for taking the time to read that post. I know that it was a sensitive subject, and while they're just words on a screen, they mean something to me, and I appreciate that you read them.

I've never understood how some people can abuse the people ...

Re: Catching up

Please DON'T read this whole post, it contains subject matter that is too graphic for some people. I know that sounds like a regular crappy disclaimer, but I'm serious, just skip to the very last sentence and come back in a few days for the follow up.

Re: Happy Thanksgiving

I hope that everybody had a great Thanksgiving.

Andy, I don't know which member of your family prepared that turkey, but they definitely get points for their presentation. I'm sure it was delicious.

Murf, I'm glad to hear that your husband got some time to spend with your family, how did the ...

Re: Catching up

We had a nice quiet Thanksgiving, it was almost too quiet, as if somebody told the kids to behave themselves, or maybe, just maybe, they're growing up. They just seemed happy to be together with family for the first time in their young lives, even the youngest members like our 4 year old nephew, and ...

Re: Catching up

Thank you Murf. :)

Our wedding was on the Sat. the 20th, and Thanksgiving was on the 25th that year, my wife and I were so preoccupied with the wedding plans that we didn't even realize that it was so close to the holiday, but we postponed the honeymoon until the 27th so that we could have our ...
