PUMPKIN MASTER

Post by hauntmaster » Sun Apr 02, 2006 11:01 pm

Hey everybody! I'm the Pumpkin Master! I do love to cut and carve the pumpkins from small to large size of the pumpkins. Been there since 3 or 4 years... I don't need carving books, mags, etc... All I do is look around in the newspapers or newsletters, some comic books to get some pic logos and tear out the pages to have taped on the pumpkin itself before carving it.

I did carving NIKE AIR logo, KILLER KLOWN image, WEREWOLF image, SNOOPY DOG image, etc. You name 'em! Many more images, logos, and s**t like that, ya know?

I've never used a pattern for a pumpkin, but when I was a senior in highschool our town had a pumpkin carving contest. I was the VP of the art club and we were allowed free entrance into the contest, so we voted and decided to turn the painting "The Scream" by Munch into a pumpkin. That was the best carving I've worked on. We had 6 or 7 artists giving input and carving various elements onto the pumpkin. Lots of fun. :) Somehow we didn't win though.... we were robbed.

My older sister is so good at carving pumpkins. She carved me a couple of different ones that had cats looking at the moon and stuff like that. She did a great wolf last year on a huge pumpkin. I'm no good at it, but I do love the jack-o-lanterns!

Wow they got some cool stuff there. It's awesome that they have free patterns. I'm planning on downloading some to see how well I can carve them this year. Thanks for the link Hauntmaster!

You can usually find them all over the place. The evil that is Wal-Mart usually has this too. Something I've done in the past when I've used them is to actually photocopy the original that way I don't have to destroy it. Also a lot of clip art or other pictures can make some great looking stencils. Just a couple of suggestions.

I love pumpkins and the feeling of the gushy guck on my hands. I like the classic faces on the pumpkin but that is mostly becuase I am not that talented when it comes to carving the in much detail. I am amazed at the pictures and faces people can make on pumpkins, it is really a art form.
