This is my first year to start collecting. I finally started with the Lemax spooky town collection. I am looking through the site and see that some of the pics have a back ground and some of the displays have like streets and hills. I am new to this and wanted to know if anyone could direct me to a site or had some techniques that they would like to share on how they did this.
Happy Halloween from Halloween Town

I collect Lemax spooky town and what i use is books and burlap (buy at lowes garden center). You can stack just random books under the burlap to create levels for the pieces. I also bought a bag of leaves that Lemax sells and scatter that around. You can even buy the roads premade by them but they are sometimes hard to flatten and mold how you like.

Hope that helps some.

I have a Spooky Town, also. I use books, tupperware turned upside down and even some store bought bases to make hills and vary the landscape. I cover my table(s) with black cloth (I find that it hides the wires and such) and use cut out leaves and spanish moss to create some "landscaping". This year I have a pirate ship and a lighthouse, so I'm gonna have to find a way to make some "water". Anybody got any suggestions?

For water......Garden Ridge carries the water made by Lemax but they keep it by the christmas stuff. It is a water mat. I however I hate their mats because they are sold rolled up and IMPOSSIBLE to unroll. For water - I like to buy styrofoam in the shape I want, paint it blue on the top, hot glue some pebbles around the edges and paint the sides black.

I was in Joann Fabrics yesterday and they had these cool haunted houses that were tin and about 2 1/2 feet tall for $24. Too cute!
I am getting excited!!! It's getting close!

WOW Neo that looks amazing. This year I experimented making some of my platforms. It is a little time consuming but fun. I love your creativity!

Well, Dutchess, this year I'm probably gonna skip the village  It takes up A LOT of room, and we are going to have a lot of extra stuff in the house, what with trying to decorate like Hogwarts and all. I've got other uses in mind for both the space and the tables that the village sits on!

MHooch - no village? : ( But the Hogwarts idea sounds amazing.

This year I have started to shift my village to Dept. 56. I sold a few of my spookytown pieces and now I have at least 5 or 6 dept 56. I am excited!!!!!! Super excited!!!!! And I tihnk I may even take one piece to work and put it in my office.
