Looking for hair

Post by LittleDollClaudia » Fri Oct 06, 2006 7:35 am

I am going to wear a beard for my costume but I don't want it to look like a Santa beard. Any suggestions for looking real but not too expensive?

Try a costume shop - there should be a few popping around here soon. They probably have a better variety.

LDC...definitely get some crepe hair, it comes in a braid, and you untwist it and stretch it out and cut it to whatever length you want. Use spirit gum to attach it, starting under your chin and work your way up and around your face, layering it as you go. (Make it long, you can always trim it once it's on.) You can get spirit gum remover to take it off, or acetone will do the job. Looks much more realistic than a beard that is all in one peice, but allow yourself plenty of time. We use it alot, and really like the effect that it gives.

Crepe hair looks probably the most realisic. I've used it a lot as well... but the down side is I always end up miserable after a couple of hours (itchy and splotchy).

you can buy a santa clause beard and cut it to what ever shape you want and put a little dirt on it to give it a brownish type look :) ;0
