A lonely poem

Postby Nostalgiascape on Mon Nov 19, 2007 5:25 am

He stood on his wilting front porch

The snow fell in clumps of fluffy white

His past had been nothing but pain

However this day offered a cure to his daily agony

Looking to the cobalt clouds, he smiled

He thought to a happy point in time

Many many years ago

He was but a child

Hanging on to a simple wooden sled

This day his family was far gone away

They had moved on to a better place

He remembered their faces

He remembered their smiles

On this the holiest of nights he granted himself a reprieve

He would not admonish himself

Instead he would allow himself

This the holiday spirit

On every tree limb he saw hope

In every snow flake he saw hope

In the night sky he envisioned hope

At night he dreamed of hope

And on the morning of December 25th..

He did not feel alone

The angels were around him

He was in Gods presence

Wow, very nice Nos. So many people experience depression during the holidays understandably due to the loss of loved ones and the memories it conjures. You're poem does an excellent job of capturing those feelings.

I agree with CK, NOS. You're good, man, why haven't we seen more works from you on our poetry threads?

 I'm crying right now.....omg I haven't cryed like this in awhile.....
O holy night! The stars are brightly shining,

It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.

Long lay the world in sin and error pining.

Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth...
