I B Freezin's Christmas

Postby I B Freezin' Wolfman » Sun Nov 18, 2007 1:23 pm

Mom & I decked out the tree last night.

Here she is hanging tinsel on the tree.

OOPS! She dropped it. Butterfingers!

We lost half of a package of tinsel this way.

Image

Here she's putting the final touches on

the tree that only a "mom" can do.

Image

The final outcome. When I was a kid, we

had a real tree, and the larger C7 strings

of lights, (the kind with the red and green

wires, metal clips and bakealite sockets?)

Back then, when you dragged down the

decorations from the attic, and opened

the box. The smell of the decorations

hit you. You definatly knew it was

time for Christmas when you got

a whiff of that scent. WOW!

We had real molded

glass blown oraments

with the glitter on them,

and tinsel just dripping down

the branches. This is what I tried

to duplicate here. The lights are smaller,

the ornaments are plastic, and the tree is

artificial. But it's cool, because it's safer

than the real trees. I like "safer".

But the tinsel shimmers

when the ceiling fan

is in reverse. It

"twinkles" all

over the tree.

Just imagine the

tiny tiny spots you

see in the image of the

tree just blinking randomly

all over the tree. Catching colored

light from the lights of the tree. It's beautiful!

That's great Wolfie. :D I want to get my tree up so bad, but I have the family coming over for Thanksgiving and the Tree would be in the way. To accommodate everyone at the dinner table we have to expand it into the living room. So the Tree will have to wait until Friday, but your pictures have me really psyched. Thanks for sharing. :D

Beautiful job, Wolfie!! Your post does a great job of helping us imagine exactly what your tree looks like too--I think it's cool you captured the moment of your Mom dropping half the tinsel..something y'all can go back and laugh about later.

Mom & I share some really fine time together. We go out to the garage sales, and we pile everything in the trunk. We talk about what we got, what we plan to do with it, and we have a shared hobby. Crafts, Christmas & Halloween. So the holidays are so much fun together. I really love the time we get to spend together.
