November Snow
By CK
I woke up this morning to a wonderful surprise
White flakes from the sky accompanied the sunrise;
I thought for a moment, a dream this must be,
For on November 18, its not snow you often see;
White branches, white bushes, white stones and lawns,
I'm heading outside when I shake off this yawn;
As I touched the first flake, I could tell right away,
This was packing snow, great fun was on the way;
We started with small balls, rolled all over the ground,
And before we knew it we had quite an impressive mound;
This mound began to take shape, a strong round base,
It wouldn't be long before we sculpted the face;
Acorns for eyes, nose and mouth made of rocks,
Twigs for two arms and for mittens, old socks;
As we completed our task, we gave ourselves one big cheer;
For November could claim credit for the first snow of the year.
