CHRISTMAS POEMS

Books, poems, stories and other tales!

Postby Snow Faery on Sat Nov 10, 2007 10:51 am

This is a poem I wrote a couple of years back, it's not really Christmassy so much as it is about Winter, but.. it's open to interpretation ;) Hope you like it!

Winter Rose:

The Earth has given icy birth

To Winter winds and frozen dew

And now as barren tree limbs flail,

So my arms reach out for you.

My heart quickens, a chilling lull

So softly beats beneath my breast,

My flesh is tingling, trembling as

Excitement, passion, cease to rest.

I feel the sparkling frost is forming,

It coats my skin

A quick explanation:

My wife and I just finished watching a news report about families in a poor New Jersey neighborhood. It's always the children in these pieces that get to me. I find I have to remind myself about where I am and what I have and how it's all on such thin glass. If you're not in the mood for it this will come off as very preachy, and for that I'm sorry. This is a life I don't understand but know it is out there and it's worse during Christmas, at least I imagine so.

Santa never visits my neighborhood

Snow Faery, a very enchanting poem, that one--I quite enjoyed it!! :D

Jack, I am truly sorry there are so many children out there in this situation, none of them deserve it. Your poem is a well-written, somber reminder of how grateful we should be for all the good in our own lives not only at Christmas, but every day of the year.

poem

Postby Santa Baby on Sat Nov 10, 2007 5:24 pm

This is a poem that Santa Baby and Santa babys mom worked on together this afternoon. Thanks Mom!

Listen Listen can you hear

the sound of sleigh bells

growing near

Snow man is waiting in the yard

I try to stay awake

but its very hard

My eyes grow heavy ready for sleep

but I want to make sure

Santas promise he will keep

I did my part my stockings hung

I put out cookies

and the carols have all been sung

As I drift of to a dreamy place

I would swear I saw

Santa face.
I've been an awful good girl,

Santa baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight.

poem

Postby Santa Baby on Mon Nov 12, 2007 3:18 pm

I awoke so sudden in my room

and strained my eyes to see

through the dark and gloom

A fine misty presence

I did at once see

the form of a man who was looking at me

He looked old and tired, yet a gleam in his eye

he looked dressed for a party

he stood staring but I didnt know why

Finally I found enough courage to speak

though my words did tremble

and were timid and meek

Why sir do you come to me in my bed

to stare at me now and

fill me with dread?

I am not here to menace or cause you to fear

I am a ghost of Christmas and

I only bring you good cheer

Your soul called out to be saved

and I furnish the ground

on which your salvation is paved

Break free of your sadness and of your pain

the chill in your heart

for you have so much to gain

Find the Christmas thats hidden within

the joys and the laughter

let it all in

Bask in the glow of humanity's worth

relish in the beacon of hope

enjoy merriment and mirth

This is the time this is the season

to feel loves warmth

please listen to my reason

I stared at this man with a tear in my eye

I felt chastised and broken

selfish and why

I was full of self pity and kept others away

I thought that if I was alone it would

be better that way

I had been slowly turning to stone

and my error and folly had

to me been shown

I cried for my self and those like me

who get self absorbed and

refused to see

The kindness that exists within the bosom of man

that you need to reach out

whenever you can

My Ghost of Christmas then gave a smile

I will take my leave so you

can think for a while

Never forget you are never alone

remember gods kindness

and you will always be home
I've been an awful good girl,

Santa baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight.

Great one Santababy! :D Really touching. I think sometimes we all need a christmas ghost to open our eyes and set us back on the right track.

Santa Baby, thank you for those last two works, very moving- and that's cool that your Mom jumped in to help! :D

Jack...I don't know what to say. Your poem will leave me in serious contemplation of these world issues and a much deeper gratefulness for my family's good fortune today, with a hope that I will become a better person and contributor to society this Christmas season than I was the last.

A lonely man

Walks the night alone

Scared and solemn

Huddled from the cold

His footsteps follow

The many footsteps before

Left by those who answered

A call they could not ignore

Excellent contributions so far Jack Frost I like the way you capture the underside of the holiday.

Silence

Silken robes lined in fur

Weary brows

Bear the burden

Of heavy, golden crowns

Restless spirits wandering

Searching tonight

Seeking the jewel

Listening for the sounds

Bended knee in the dirt

Royal men line

Behind filthy farmers

Above them joy abounds

I am certainly enjoying your contributions to this thread, Jack. :D I wish I had this kind of talent- mine resides more with a pencil and drawing pad..if only I had the opportunity for it right now. Maybe one of these days. I'd have to start spending less free time on Halloween and Santaclaus.com, first.

Cold Cereal and Red Plastic

I want toys for Christmas, before the season ends

I want all the second stringer Superfriends

Give me Black Vulcan

Give me Apache Chief

Give me Samurai to impress my friends

Give me an El Dorado

with his teleporting cape

Give me a two pack of the Wonder Twins

You might think I'm crazy, or maybe just a geek

I want Saturday mornings with a super articulated Gleek

Give me Black Vulcan

Give me Apache Chief

Give Samurai to impress my friends

Give me an El Dorado

with his teleporting cape

Give me a two pack of the Wonder Twins
