Our favorite Christmas event

For the past two years I've taken my daughter to Ice! at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine. Everything is ice. It is amazing, and so much fun. We look forward to it this year. Here's some pics from a couple years ago..

It's really amazing in person, especially that nativity. Last year wasn't quite as impressive as the year before. I think (well, quite obviously) they tried to save most of the stuff from the previous year in a freezer..but that angel was a good four to five foot shorter this past year I'm hoping, hoping, hoping they do it again this year. And if so- I hope they have a lot of new pieces. Although the ice slide is always good.

Amazing Amazing Amazing! I can't begin t know how something of that scale is organized! It's really all so beautiful! And to have something like that to look forward to every year, must be wonderful!

lol@santa with candy. I tried to come up with something witty like Stranger with Garland...hmm, Stranger with...tinsel? But alas..



So I checked the site after my last post and they ARE doing it again this year!! *dies of happiness* We'll probably go the first week in December, that's when we usually go :nod: It really sets the mood for the upcoming month of festivities.

They say 'better than ever!' Awesome. 2 million pounds of ice.



From my recollection they have ice carvers from China flown in. I think last year they tried to avoid that step- but in the longrun the cost of keeping ALL of that ice perfect, all year, in TEXAS, was a huge, expensive task. It had to be.



It's so cold in there,OEJ..err, OBP Way below freezing, something like 15 degrees. Peoples cameras freeze up (they warn you before you go in)..I keep mine in my pocket with pocket warmers, and I try to keep it in my hand (in pocket) at all times. I wish I had more pictures, I know I do. The ice bridge with the pond beneath,w/ ice skating bears.

It really is, I'll definitely take pictures again this year! More even now that I have you guys to appreciate the tiny details.

That looks soooo cool!!! I wish we had something like that over here in the UK. The closest thing I have to that is my local garden centre's Santa Grotto
