Stolen Spider

Post by OPTIDONN » Thu Apr 20, 2006 3:26 pm

Several years ago there was this very, very large house down the street from my apartment that had some of the coolest decorations I have seen. A few of my friends and I had a bit too much to drink at our halloween party and we decided to go steal some of the decorations. By the time we got there all we found was this huge detailed spider. We never saw a decoration that nice so of course we stole it. That was about 6 or seven years ago. This year I'm going to return it but with some kind of note. I kind of want to put something clever in the note. Any ideas?

Hmm. How to rectify drunken theivery with tact and style? I'd say write the note on parchment with a calligraphy pen. Write in simplistic cursive.
What is sanity but seeing in black and white?

I know this is a late reply....really late but it might be interesting to create a small story or riddle about where the spider has been the last 7 years. You know, where it vacationed, lived, who it met etc. Children sometimes do this with class stuffed animals and such.

It might get a bit of a laugh

Even later reply...

I like mandy0221's idea - reminds me of the roaming gnome stories where someone would steal a garden gnome and send the owner pictures of the gnome next to landmarks, in different countries, etc.

I do think you should do something classy to make up for the theft though. I'd throw in a gift certificate to a restaurant or something. :D

NO...go ahead and do it.

But I would certainly do the gift certificate and make up the story about what it's been doing. That would be great.

I have one more question though...are you sure the same people still live there?

yeah, maybe with the note from the spider say "sorry I missed Halloween, but I had to save all my money to come back home for the holidays" hahaha maybe but a santa hat on it or something.

I wondered if you had done it this past year. Have you decided on how you are going to return it?

Show some guts and put your name, address, and telephone number in the note. Own up to your mistake.
