The Black Pit of Dr M (You need to SEE this..)

Post by uncletor » Tue Nov 07, 2006 3:33 pm

Found this forgotten jewel BEFORE halloween, and saved it until the weekend when I knew I would need something to lift the spirits...
THIS THING IS A FORGOTTEN MASTERPIECE. Rates with the best of the hammer and Universal horror films.
And it takes place on November 13th in the movie.
Very cool..these guys decide to make a promise to come back from the dead and tell the others what is on the other side. Thing is, the first guy to go, DOES come back, but doesn't look HAPPY..has that ticked off look you might get after a bender and you're at the breakfast table and the kid next door decides to do a drum lesson.
The Intense Doctor doesn't pay attention and gets the guy to tell him how it's done..meanwhile, the local insane gypsy pours acid on a guys face and gets HIM ticked off...
From there, things get hairy...the make up is amazing..the scene where Elmer comes back from the dead is like nothing you've ever seen..he's not the usual zombie that shuffles...he has MOTIVATION...
we are talking rich atmosphere..ahead of it's time make up...and amazing amazing lighting..showed it to my son and he stuck around to the end, despite it being black and white and from Mexico and sub titled...he DID NOT KNOW what was happening next..
the perfect post Halloween horror film..rescued by Casa Negra from 1959.
Uncle Tor says have a look.

nope nope nope.
gotta buy it. Casa Negra. Ebay or their web site can fix you up for round ten bucks..
It PLAYED on tv in a dubbed version, when we were kids, but that version has vanished from the face of creation. And the DVD is so clean and crisp you could eat a salad off it..
