Hi guys.

I work in a bar/restaurant/club in Guangzhou, South China. We have just landed the biggest halloween party in the city this year with the biggest English language magazine in South China. Expecting upwards of 400-500 people.

I've never done a halloween party before, or decorated a place before but as we are a new place i want to make this a night people wont forget and want to make this place look completly halloween.

So far my only ideas are buy lots and lots of black and orange fabric to cut and hang and cover the whole ceiling. Lots of pumpkins everywhere. And a dummy of a witch with our smoke machine under her skirt so when it goes off her skirt will blow about and smoke will come out.

I know this isn't much. Any ideas off u guys would be really appreciated. thanks.

I would add lots of creepy lighting......strobe lights eerie green glows in places. On the tables you may want to do candleabras with cobwebs and maybe get the fake flikering candles in place of real ones which will probably be a fire hazard. Fog machines are good as well but you have to make sure it is in a well venelated area.

Is this going to be costume event? If not perhaps market it that way to really encourage visitors to add to the ambience. I love the witch idea....as well. You might also want to have the employees dress up etc etc.

Look into creepy clings in the bathroom on the mirrors......bloody footprints. Have grim reapers (real people) waiting outside to let people in (dont have them talk)

Hope these ideas help.

Mark...strobe lights are a must, as well as black lights. A cemetery with fencing, lots of spanish moss, soft green/red lighting and skeletons/bones would be great. Definitely make it a costume affair, and offer prizes for best overall, best group, best couple, scariest, cutest, (make up as many categories as you want). Lots and lots of jack-o-lanterns (lit with battery lights, of course). Hay bales with scarecrows. Orange and purple light strings. Oh yeah, and cobwebs, lots of cobwebs. You can never have too many spiders, snakes, rats and crows. Just go wild!! Have fun and good luck!

thanks guys. those idea's are very good cheers.
Yes its a costumer party. I will get the staff just a small addition to their uniform each. cos people have to be able to recognise them! haha.

The problem in China is finding things. I know it's all made here, but finiding it to purchase singley is a challenge. I will see what I can do.

Any other ideas would be great. thanks.

and "go wild"! the best thing anybodys said to me so far haha. cheers
