The 60's version is the bets IMO. It's a must watch every year. Strange how all the newer versions with all thier improved special effects, have never topped that masterpiece.

I agree the older versions convey much more meaning with fewer special effects. ;-)

Boy.... Yeah, I've seen that one and it's quite a contrast from my favorite one. My fav is the 1972 animated one with Alistair Sim, produced by Chuck Jones.

Scrooge is ok, I'm just not really into movies that have a serious story line then hit you with a little song and dance. Oh, the WORST for me is West Side Story!

"I'm gunna kill ya, punk..... BUT FIRST, A LITTLE SONG AND DANCE!!! CHA CHA TAPTAPTAP!!!

For this same reason, I'll never see the musical version of "Les Mes". Crimany.... That show must have ol' Victor rolling in his grave. Just sayin.

Sorry Spookyboo..... OH JEEZ! I mean Santa Baby! Image

Do you mean Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol (1962)? That's the only one I know of that was released in the 1960s.

There was the musical Scrooge, released in 1970, starring Albert Finney.

The Alistair Sim version was released in 1951. Sim also provided the voice of Scrooge for the Academy Award-winning 1971 animated version by Richard Williams:

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Yeah, Wence, That's my faorite version and I've written about it here a few times. For YEARs you couldn't find it ANYwhere!!! I think it's a brilliant adaptation and to me, the most poignant.

Thanks for the links. It's nice for those who have never heard of it to get a glimps!
