Gift cards for Christmas?

I've been giving gift cards for years. I love that Safeway is making it easier. I just picked up a Starbucks gift card yesterday while grocery shopping. I love getting and giving gift cards. I always made me sick that I would spend my hard earned money on a gift and it could end up at goodwill or the garbage. Now I know it'll be enjoyed My husband always spends his in Fabuary. He says it's like extending Christmas

I'm split on this one.

I think that they are a great idea because the receiver is able to get exactly what fits or is the rigt color or whatever, but with so many companies on the rocks lately the card you buy today may end up being a very expensive ice-scraper after Christmes...
