Cute Scary Stories

Last year we did a fun puppet show with a computer twist. We had hand and stick puppets and props with a stage a little taller than my kids. The stage was a white sheet hung over a rope about 5 feet off the ground. From the audience area we projected the words of a poem onto the sheet. We used MS Powerpoint for the words and included audience prompts for sound effects. The actors only had to keep the puppets going. Anyway, it was really fun and we want to do it again this year. Does anyone have a cute, not-too-scary, Halloween story that would work for a puppet show? I actually think a little scary would be good but maybe with a not-so-scary ending.

Thanks for your help - and give this idea a try at your party. It was great fun.

Hi ShaynePierce, and welcome to the board. Look for a children's book called "The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid Of Anything" By Linda Williams, illustrated by Megan Lloyd. It as about a little old lady who walks in the woods and encounters clothing (first shoes, then shirt, then pants, etc.) walking by itself. Eventually she has enough parts to make a scarecrow. There is great audience participation ("And the shoes went CLOMP,CLOMP. And the pants went WIGGLE,WIGGLE." etc.) It would make a great little puppet play!! Hope it works for you. Happy Halloween!
