Blair Witch Project

I still think this movie is scary as hell! I think a part of me still wants to believe the marketing hype from before the film came out. I was disappointed to find out that it was all a hoax, but it did not ruin the movie for me. Mainly because of the manner in which it was filmed (complete with Hemingway's Iceberg Effect), it is still one of the scariest movies on my list of horror favorites, and you must admit it was original.

Thoughts...

Nicely promoted movie.
I like the promo tape that went with it..THE CURSE OF THE BLAIR WITCH actually better then the movie..great backstory.
But I didn't for a minute believe it was true...I mean, can't you HEAR the parents ??? " You awful awful people making MONEY while we suffer..."

Not really sure about how original it is (although I did enjoy the scenes in the house quite a bit) considering that Cannibal Holocaust did almost the same thing.

Yeah, the promo was cool. I'd love to find a copy on dvd to watch in conjunction with a viewing of the film.

I thought it was a great film, I saw it at the cinema at a midnight showing...<deleted> my pants when I walked to my car and the bushes rustled.....
Not believable in my opinion but thought provoking all the same.

I couldn't even make myself watch the whole thing. There may have been some good scenes but I hated the camera movements.

The shaky cam is a problem but the scenes in the house are very good. I wouldn't call the film scary and I think the payoff is too long in coming, but overall this felt like an event, part of the cultural zeitgeist that is lacking when it is viewed on DVD.
