Hi, Well atlast the UK is starting to recognise Halloween. Over the last 5 or 6 years its just got bigger and better!

When i was a kid there was nothing, yeah, me and a couple of friends attempted TOT but nobody had a Jack OLantern and nobody answered doors! =..(

But over the years i celebrated it in my own way, since the age of 18 i always had a Jack O'Lantern and if kids knocked at the door id give them shed loads of sweets. Actually, i think i scared them more with kindness than they scared me! =/

So, now at the ripe old age of 28 and a family in tow, i can finally celebrate Halloween to the full extent, and it makes it a hell of a lot easier now as the UK has gone a bit crazy for it. This year ill be visiting SpookyWorld it looks fab and is advertised on this site. Its only 10mins in the car from where i live too. Hooray! ^-^

We dont celebrate fall tho, which is sad. As thats my favourite time of year.

Anyways theres my story so far..... =)x

I can't imagine not celebrating Halloween!! I'm glad the UK is catching up. As a matter of fact, last year a friend of my moms had her sister visiting from Ireland, and they brought her over to my house Halloween night, and she just couldn't get over it. She kept walking around looking at everyhting, exlaiming how "fabulous" it all was, she really had a good time. I told my mom we'd have to send her some pictures this year! LOL And welcome to you as well, mummynuts! Love your nickname

Hi, I'm a fellow Brit.

Halloween is now a big event in the countryside and the suburbs, the international feel of the big cities tends to dampen down what is essentially a Western tradition.

My friends and I used to go trick or treating in the 80s, when we were kids, and were always well received. I still enjoy halloween today, I carve a pumpkin every year and do something special for my nephews (ghost hunting on Wimbledon common last year......and we found the one we were were looking for, at least that's what the nephews believe :-). Even my Japanese wife claims it is her favourite British tradition.
It's a great excuse for having some spooky fun, and it's good to see that the supermarkets have caught on and we now having American style decorations and costumes on offer.
