Ok, so who has seen this movie? And is it really all that? I'd never heard of it before it swept the major Oscar categories last night.

I heard of it, but unfortunately I have not seen it. There was a "Parasite" out in theatres back in the late 70s or early 80s that was supposed to be in 3 D and really good, but I didn't get to see it due to that dreaded desease "Empty Wallet and Bank Account Syndrome." I would like to see both the original and the reboot.

Do you think the Korean one is a reboot? It won best original screenplay. Maybe the title is just a coincidence.

Good point. There have been a few movies that had the same title of older movies, but were totally different stories. "The Changeling" is one example. I have the classic 'haunted house' story that was out in theatres back in the early 80s. I have seen 'direct to dvd' movies that had the same title, but the story had nothing to do with the 80s flick what so ever.

We got Parasite on DVD and watched it yesterday. Without spoiling anything, I will say that it was intriguing. However, it did not strike me as a horror movie, and it was not scary. It was maybe a psychological thriller. The tone seemed comedic at first, but it got violent. Nothing supernatural about it, though.

I enjoyed it, but I have a hard time believing it was the best picture in the universe last year. I wish they would make best picture and best foreign picture mutually exclusive categories.

The "Parasite" I remember was more a sci fi horror movie then a supernatural horror movie. I do want to see the new "Parasite," though. Anyway, for tomorrow I'm going to screen "Halloween Jack" "Clowns" and a few others and play records in between.

Subtitles keep me from watching a lot of movies. You may as well just read a book.

Lol, this one was subtitled.

Those sub titles are often there for the hearing impaired, but I agree. I only like sub titles if the movie was made in a foreign language, and there are very few of those that interest me.

I am no fan of 'Indie horror' at all. I love Indie music, but Indie horror just doesn't do anything for me.
