At What Age Did you Stop Trick or Treating?

Post by Haunted Horseman » Tue Sep 11, 2007 8:37 am

At what age did you stop Trick or Treating? The last time I went TOT as a kid was when I was 15. I remember Ghostbusters was big that year and I put together a customer and carried a "boom box" wiich played the theme music as I went from house to house.
Because once you cross that bridge, my friend, the ghost is through, his power ends.

I think Indiana Jones was the last costume I wore when TOTing as a kid. Of course now as a Dad I'm TOTing every year again in costume!

Great idea with the Ghostbusters' music.

A grumpy old man telling me I was too old to ToT when I was 12 (the last year I went ToTing) and all the scornful stares at a teen ToTer made me stop ToTing.

My house rule for passing out candy is:
As long as you're dressed up, you get stuff.

As far as I'm concerned, there is no age limit, nor should there be an age limit. Halloween isn't just for kids.

I'm with Jadewik we have the same rule at our house, if you dress up it doesn't matter how old you are you'll get something. Of course the kids get a little more then the teens / adults do.
Is it Halloween yet? and by the way it's not makeup it's jaundice.

I guess it was more a transition than a stopping, since I still dress up and handle lots of candy. The change is that I GIVE the candy instead of GET the candy. =)

Sorry about that Rus, there are a limited number of options when making a poll and I wanted to get the last two answers in. :)

It's getting really difficult to find little kids to 'borrow' to take them trick or treating. My neice is usually accompanied by at least four adults.

I stopped going on my own when I was about 14. After that it was mostly parties with my punk friends and getting into trouble until I grew up and started having my own parties and enjoying the season again. Now I just have to have a decoy child to hide the fact that I'm trick or treating at 31 years old.
I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.

It's true, it's true :( When I was a kid growing up, it wasn't very common for kids to go TOTing in my neighbourhood..perhaps even in the country! And my dad wouldn't let me go, because he considered it "begging"

I stopped trick or treating when I was about 16. I remember that day so well. I dressed up as a witch and went with friends. We stopped at a house with pumpkins and headstones in the yard. We approached the door to cobwebs and we knocked. A lady casually dressed, rudely said to us "we are christians and we hate halloween!" and she slammed the door in our faces. She obviously tricked us.

Many bad and terrible things happened to her house after that. it got robbed many times then finally it burnt down..... I only wish this was true.
