There was a historic "Count Vlad Dracul" he was also known as The Impaler, he hung bloody people on wooden stakes! I believe he was born in 1430s something like that, but not so sure when he died, maybe earlier 1500s'. Vlad Dracul's son named Vlad Dracula, the last name spelled with "A". His son Dracula was the next count that forced his quests to drink the blood of those he killed.

Well, anyways, if you know anything about Vlad Dracul and his son V. Dracula, then feel free to post it here.
