Re: Fog machines, chillers or dry ice

I bought one of those styrofoam coolers at a grocery store, and used the instructions on gotfog.com to build my first fog chiller a few years back, and it worked great. The fog machines with the built in compartment for ice just don't hold enough ice I feel, and it doesn't cool it for very long, whi...

Re: Un-scary Halloween movies

I don't know if it's too scary, but what about the original Haunting? Especially if this is an old house, I think that would be a great movie to watch.

Lady in White is a good one, I really like that movie.

What about Hocus Pocus? Hehe. I won't even lie, I love that movie so much.

Re: Elvira life-size poster

That is awesome, I love Elvira. I saw her last August in San Francisco, hosting Creature from the Black Lagoon and Dead Alive. I got her picture autographed. Muahaha.

Re: how much halloween music do you have

I really don't have that much. Every year I add a few more songs, mostly because I like my Halloween music to stay in a narrow kind of genre. Most of it's jazz and swing. For some reason I just think swing is the perfect Halloween music, possibly due to my favorite compilation ever: The Haunted Hous...

Yeah, I plan to hide in it dressed ghostly. (I have some plastic chain I want to sew to an old coat.) I just hope the TOT's come often enough that I don't fall asleep in there! :D Here it is with black paint. http://keith.blurm.com/painted%20coffin.jpg http://keith.blurm.com/painted%20coffin%202.jpg

Ray Bradbury is my idol, and I own almost all of his books. I need to find my Halloween Tree book, it's in some box from the move... The October Country is one I read every October. In fact, most years I don't even touch the computer in October, and instead devote the month to Bradbury stories and L...

My Coffin

This week I've been working on my own wooden coffin for the yard decorations. At first I was going to through together some extra plywood we had around into a coffin shape and spray paint it. Well, I am doing all that, I just got a little carried away. Here is what I have so far, I'll sand the wood ...

My Halloween Mix

I thought I'd share this Halloween Mix CD I made with everyone here, as there have been a few requests for Halloween music. (I'm not sure if there is a rule against this. Let me know if so.) It's mostly classical and swing or old jazz, but there is some modern stuff thrown in, just to mix it up. Her...

I'm a fellow Northern Californian (Lake County at the moment.) And I know what you mean about the Booing thing. I was thinking about doing it but I keep thinking maybe not. :| Some people in my neighborhood have stuff up, and I'm glad. Our house is back behind trees, in what would usually be a neigh...

I just don't think it would be the same, though you did point out that the 31st would still be official Halloween (really it was to be the eve before All Hallows, otherwise the name doesn't even work!) I've just always thought the day after Halloween should be a school holiday. I mean, banks and pos...

Bela Lugosi. Dracula, the Black Cat, and White Zombie are movies that changed how I saw horror. It doesn't have to be a slasher to be scary. Plus, Bela had a way of being sexy as well as scary. It's one of the things that made him brilliant.

I made a chiller for my fog machine a few years ago and it worked really well. I made the one from gotfog.com. This year I got my hands on a lot of think, walk-in freezer foam, so I plan to make a really big chiller that I can just fill with ice, I'll let you guys know how it turns out. A store-boug...
